PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — In a decisive move to counter imminent threats of gang violence, the interim Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Rameau Normil, has mandated that all police units be placed on high alert. This directive, issued in response to anticipated gang attacks scheduled for Monday, underscores the urgency of the security situation in the Haitian capital.
The order from Director General Rameau Normil aligns with the instructions of the Minister of Justice, Me Patrick Pélissier, who emphasized the need for a robust police presence to thwart potential attacks. The coordinated effort involves Central and Departmental Directors, Commanders of specialized units, as well as the Heads of Commissariats and Sub-Commissariats, all of whom have been directed to maintain their forces in a heightened state of readiness.
This proactive stance by the PNH reflects the growing concern over gang activity in Port-au-Prince, as authorities work diligently to safeguard the city’s residents and maintain order in the face of escalating threats.
