PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — In a pivotal transition marking a new chapter for the Commission for the Reconstruction of Haiti (CPT), Lesly Voltaire formally transferred leadership to Fritz Jean during a ceremony on Thursday. The event, attended by dignitaries and key stakeholders, underscored the organization’s critical role in Haiti’s governance and developmental future.
Fritz Jean, a respected economist and former central bank governor, now leads the CPT, an institution charged with overseeing reconstruction and fostering sustainable development. His appointment arrives at a crucial juncture as Haiti confronts political instability, economic strain, and the lingering effects of natural disasters.
“This is not merely a change in leadership; it is a renewal of our commitment to Haiti’s future,” Jean declared in his inaugural address. “The challenges are immense, but so are the opportunities to rebuild with transparency, inclusivity, and resilience.”
Lesly Voltaire, who steered the CPT through transitional recovery, voiced confidence in his successor. “Fritz Jean’s expertise in Haiti’s economic and social landscape positions him to advance the CPT’s mission,” Voltaire stated.
